Same day crowns have become increasingly popular due to the convenience and ease they offer busy patients needing dental restorations for decayed or damaged teeth.

With the help of CEREC® technology, we can fabricate a custom fit, long lasting, and natural colored ceramic crown quickly and efficiently within a few hours.  This allows you to come into our office and leave that same day with your smile restored!

The CEREC® Process

•The first step is determining if CEREC® is right for you. Depending on how much healthy tooth structure is remaining, it may be a simple filling or you might require a crown. After going over your options, Dr Ake will begin the process of your same day crown by administering anesthetic and preparing the tooth for restoration by removing decay and weakened tooth tissue.

•Once decay and weakened tooth tissue is removed, a 3D image of the tooth that needs restoring will be created by a digital camera scan of the tooth. This image will be used to create the crown by converting it into a 3D virtual model of the tooth. This means no need to take a messy and unpleasant impression!

•Next, Dr Ake and his team will select the correct colored ceramic block based on the original color of your tooth. The virtual 3D model is then sent over to our milling unit and it will get to work building your new crown.

•Once the milling unit has finished your restoration, it’s time to place your custom crown to ensure a proper fit and bite. When it is ready, the crown is polished and bonded into place by Dr Ake. No temporary crown, no extra visits!
